In the old city centre one can still trace the roman Campus Maior.
In the old city of Camaiore it is also worthwhile to see: the church of La Collegiata; the Sacred Art Museum with a beautiful wooden statue of M. Civitali (XV century) among other masterpieces; the abbey of San Peter and its awesome modern organ where an international organ festival is held, etc.
By the seaside, there is Camaiore Lido that offers a newly renovated promenade similar to the, so far, more famous Viareggio.
Hills around Camaiore, especially towards Lucca or the Apuane Alps, feature many itineraries for hikes, bicycle/mountain bike or horse; they range from 500 mt. to 1.400 mt altitude, many of them overlooking the sea.
In very clear day, especially in winter, the sight is open to the Tuscan islands and even to Corsica.

This is the starting point for all itineraries (on foot or by car) leading to the Apuane Alps and the marble quarries.

In Massa you can visit the Malaspina castle (La Rocca); here, as from Carrara, depart the ways, both pedestrian and by vehicle, into the Apuan Alps and to the marble quarries.

Together with Camaiore, Pietrasanta is one of the inland towns of Versilia busy in winter, too: the old city centre is the perfect set for many art exhibits organized by, or dedicated to, the many foreign and Italian artists living there.
The old centre has a beautiful “piazza” for pedestrians only and is rich of ancient monuments.
The town is linked to the beaches (Marina di Pietrasanta) by a pleasant boulevard 4-km long.
The area towards the Apuane Alps also offers many scenic itineraries.
Pietrasanta is the place of birth (in Valdicastello Carducci) of Giosuè Carducci a famous Italian poet of the late XIX century.
